April 2011 Updates

The following features and enhancements were released by Solid Cactus eCommerce on April 20, 2011. If you are a Solid Cactus eCommerce merchant, more information on these changes can also be found in your recently updated user guide.

Mobile Browser Detection

The purpose of this project item is to provide mobile detection capabilities when keying in the store URL.

  • Automatic browser detection for mobile devices
  • Customers on mobile devices are served the mobile version when they key in the store URL
  • Added mobile menu navigation items to view the “full site”
  • Added store merge codes that can be used to return the customer to the mobile store if they navigate to the “full site”
  • Product links placed on social media sites or other website standalone and when clicked will take the customer to the appropriate checkout page after detecting their device
  • The customer only needs to know your store URL, not the mobile URL as well
  • No merchant setup required for this item

Exclude States and Provinces from Cart

This release item gives our merchants the ability to exclude states/provinces for shipping purposes.

  • Merchants with “Ship to Countries of US or Canada” can globally remove states and provinces from the available list in the checkout
  • Merchants may now also remove outlying territories globally rather than create special shipping methods
  • Merchants can configure their checkout to only accept orders from the lower 48 states if desired
  • You can access these settings by going to “Products” >> “Setup Shipping” page — “Setup Ship to Countries” section

Billing Cycle Reset for Recurring Events

The purpose of this release item is to give our merchants the ability to reset the billing cycle attempt account for recurring events.

  • Merchants can reset the billing cycle, upon successful recurring event charge
  • Choose to attempt billing several days consecutively if billing fails for an event
  • Start next period’s billing from the original bill date, or from the successful bill date

Misc. Tasks

  • Order export was updated to include all product options
  • Ability to add query strings to store custom page URLs, home page and search pages for better tracking abilities
